EJBF Coronavirus Update

**In light of updated Government advice on social gatherings – The remaining dates until May for Edinburgh Jazz School, Edinburgh Blues Academy and GD Jam are postponed.**

My apologies on the late notice – but with the updated UK government and public health guidance, it seems appropriate. The health and wellbeing of friends, participants and other vulnerable community centre users is paramount.

HOWEVER – We want the music, the community engagement, and positive effects music can have on ourselves and each other, to continue.

Please let me know your ideas for how we can keep going in the coming months! We’ve a few online resources as a starting point, but I’m open to any/all ideas of how we can keep upbeat on the downbeat over the next few months.

Current Online Resources

Edinburgh Jazz School

All of our sheet music and exercises can be found on our website:

Additionally, we’re starting a Facebook Group – https://www.facebook.com/groups/EdinburghJazzSchool/– for all members old and new to share clips/videos/tutorials, anything you think might help people improve their playing.

We’ll also be looking to post some tutorials from our tutors, which will also go up on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClabW5F3MjIHdSA1tkqr8qg

Where you see musicians music for sale, I’d thoroughly recommend supporting them directly – BandCamp/GoFundMe for example – are great ways to keep supporting artists in the current climate.

Edinburgh Blues Academy

Again, all the music, booklets and tab can be found on our website:

Toby & Ewan’s tutorials on nearly all the songs we’ve covered so far can be found on the Edinburgh Blues Academy Youtube playlist:

and there’s a thriving social media group to post information/tunes/ideas for practicing and to keep ourselves in shape over the next few months on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/EdinburghBluesAcademy/

We have an online Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/GDJAM/ for sharing tunes, music, ideas and conversation.

All our scores and group music are currently in this Google Drive – Here’s the link https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Ex0Wof0bOXVzkTZ3fVMMJfef-0abwIuB?usp=sharing – to take a look at for those of you who haven’t (any issues getting access let me know!)

Next couple of months

I’d love your ideas on:

i) good online platforms for sharing music?

ii) online tutorials?

iii) digital lending library for instruments/sheet music?

iv) group conversations/skypes sessions?

Music, and the community, will I’m sure be a real vital part of the coming months, so get your ideas flowing in!
